Exposed Firearms Permit

Take your career to the next level.

Security Guards wanting to carry an exposed firearm while on duty must first (1) pass a psychological evaluation conducted by a third-party vendor (PSIS Exams), (2) sign up for and complete the Initial Exposed Firearms training course, (3) submit your fingerprints using Live Scan for a background check, and (4) submit the application to BSIS.

The course is a 16-hour course split into two sections; (1) an 8-hours classroom lecture, and (2) range training. At the end of the classroom lecture, you will take a 52-question multiple-choice test, and at the end of the range training you will go through a 50-round firearms qualification course-of-fire.

Once you have completed the course you will receive a certificate of completion, and your next step in the process is to get a Live Scan for a criminal background check. For your convenience, we provide Live Scan services on site, and you can add it to your appointment at the time of booking.

If you currently do not have a firearms to use, we have firearms for rent.
Ammunition is also available to purchase. Add either firearm rental and/or ammunition purchase at the time of booking.

Lastly, you will need to submit your actual application. We recommend that you do it online for faster processing.

Our instructors can assist you with the entire process to ensure your application goes through correctly.

Below are some resources for you, even if you are not taking the course with us.
